Farewell Dinner - Aji Noren

Yesterday night WH organized a little farewell dinner for 3 of our colleagues who will be leaving us very soon in the coming weeks. Stev, ah Teng and 'Leng Ong' - aka Cold King.

Went to Japanese restaurant - Aji Noren in Prima Tanjung at Tanjung Tokong. Never been to this restaurant b4 but 2 ppl from the gang tasted the food already and recommended it.

Upon entering the restaurant, can sense the heavy Japanese themed atmosphere all over.

From the wooden planks covering sections of each tables, to the cloths that separate those sections complemented by dim lighting from various shapes of lanterns. I dun think these tied to any Japanese culture but it adds the extra ambiance to the atmosphere.

As I was moving over to my seat, I've noticed that they placed the table on top of the wooden plank floor and there were little to no room for you to extend your legs inside the gap of the table. I have to shift to the middle part of the table so that I could extend my legs outside of the table towards the left and right part. A very inconvenient seating experience for me. Throughout the meal I have to reposition my seating post so that my legs did not get cramped.

There were like 10 of us so we occupied 2 sections with 2 tables and seats merged together and the cloth which separates them folded upwards.

Went through the menu, meals titled in Japanese Kanji which I couldn't read so went for the description which was written in English.

Portion of my order - Unagi, white rice, miso soup, vege, out of picture was watermelon slices (not enough space to put all those food)

I ordered Salmon Sashimi with Unagi. Each set has white rice, pickles, vege, miso soup and desert (watermelon slices). RM32 for that meal, Unagi was delicious.

Salmon Sashimi came in a slice of 4. Not bad, dipped it in wasabi and munch away! Yumm Yumm Yumm~

We joked around and took some photos. Sadly I have to snap the scenery with my 2mega pixel phone camera with no auto focus or flash to speak of. Well, my next target will be a standalone camera and promise to deliver better photos onto this blog next time round, stick around!

Overall, price is alright for the food served and atmosphere is quite nice if you dun mind the seats you can opt for a more comfortable 'normal' seating at the front portion of the restaurant.

Some how saw this turtle been placed inside a pot beside the walkaway, took out my phone and snap it. It was kind enough to stare into my lens for quite long enough for my slow shutter to snap it! thanks mr. Turtle... and sorry you have to live there... kinda..er.. torturing.

Myth: Unlocking car with your cellphone

Did anyone of you received a forwarded email which suggests that in the event you happened to misplaced your car key or lost it, and someone has a spare key of yours that you can just called up that person and have him point the remote through his phone and press on it. The signal will be sent through the phone's network and to your phone which in turns will unlock your car.

Been wanted to test this for a long time and there was this time me and my friend, we had just finished our dinner at McD. Then suddenly he asked me bout this and I told him yeah yeah, I've received this kinda email many many times but somehow forgotten to test it out. Curiously, both of us agreed to give it a go. He went outside, walked a distance away from his car, tried to unlock his car with his remote and if he's still within range he'll walk further until the signal weren't in the radius anymore. He called me through his cellphone, I picked it up, he said : 'are you ready?'. 'yeah yeah lets do this' I said. After that I held my phone near his front door. As I readied for the unlocking sound/ lights from his car... I see none, I went back and listen to the phone, we agreed to give it another go, pointed to the car door again... I held the phone... and... nothing happened. gosh, what was I thinking. And suddenly I realized that it was around 6something in the evening and the car was parked just beside a main road where there's all those cars caught up in a massive evening jam.

Somehow I could feel the 'Alien' stares I was given to by those people who watched my entire ordeal through their jam. Urgh, at least I've found out that it didn't work out this way.

The reason I'm posting this is because just now I heard radio's DJ kinda discussed bout this topic on my way back. Not wanted to post this without finding out whether is there anything that we've done wrongly or not, I went to the net and search through some info. Found this short and precise answer that someone posted...

"Radio Frequency waves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, whereas sound waves are vibrations (some physicists prefer to think of sound as extremely rapid yet minute changes in pressure) in the air. A microphone in a cell phone is moved back and forth by the sound waves (which is why it is often useful to think of sound waves as changes in pressure). This causes a process known as induction (the microphone cone has a magnet on it that moves in a coil, producing extremely small electrical charges) which is then turned into a signal that can be broadcast via radio waves (completely different kind of waves, as I mentioned before), probably using a digital signal processor of sorts. This signal is then decoded by the receiving phone, which generates an electrical signal that is sent to the speaker on the phone. Radio waves from a keyless entry remote would not cause any movement in the microphone, thereby not generating any signal for the phone to transmit. Simply put, this wouldn't work at all." - In case u're too lazy to read all those out... the shorter answer is.... yes.. it won't work.

P/S: Next time when you received that email, probably can stop circulating the myth. haha

Rude Awakening

*warning! rant post ahead, read at your own risk. >:) *

Ahh... peaceful Sunday afternoon. Came back from having my hair cut and all bathed clean and think I would like to hit the sack for a while. The weather is just nice, dim and a bit windy. Nothing beats the feeling of pampering yourself after a week of ordeal.

I laid on my bed, ear phones into my ear and turned on my soothing soundtrack. Not long after, I was already entering the 'pre-sleep' stage. BAMP! PANG! BANG! CLANG! what the hell?!?! I heard noises from outside my room near the corridor. It was from my neighbor, There's 1 unit apart, the middle unit between ours and his is unoccupied. I'm not the one who go and make friends with my neighbor, I just do like what most people do... came back then go straight into my place. Never really liked chatting away with my neighbor except with a few next door neighbor of the same age when I was growing up. They've all but moved away. Back to the story just now, as I was in a state of shock, the noise as I've interpreted them was like someone using a hammer or bat to whack some stuff. It was very violent as you can actually hear the details of various materials coming into contact with the tool of destruction and stuff breaking apart. I thought it was a result of some argument between the husband and wives as their reputation in my heart was not that nice (well, the couple argued and didn't talk nicely all the while). My mum was awakened by the noise and opened the door and check, I could hear she locked the door back so I asked her what's the big idea bout the whole thing. She told me : 'oh that was nothing, that guy was just breaking and throwing away some parts to be sold later on'. I was like : 'what???!?! breaking and throwing??? now?? Sunday?!?? I mean 4pm? Sunday afternoon?' Alright some of you might argue the fact that each of us has freedom to do whatever we wanted anytime we wanted to. I agreed, but up to a certain extend and depending on what you're doing and where you are. Come on, for crying out loud man, we're living in a flat! use your 'the thing in between your ear (brain) if you have any...

I feel like knocking some sense into him but then again violence can't really solve the problem and I'm not big enough to confront him. That guy's occupation was kinda like part time on demand kinda job. Not sure what kinda word for that occupation but basically he does painting, laying out cement on building and do all those on-demand spontaneous requests odd jobs. He likes to pile all his 'tools' and 'materials' if you will, outside the walkaway. Heck, he even pilled them over to the unoccupied unit's vicinity. I dun normally complaint nor do I feel like venting all these out here in my blog as I'm trying to change my attitude to become much more positive. I know, I'll just head over to my parent's room to take a nap starting next time. At least the noise that he'll probably make (again!) won't be that audible. Learn from experience and do not make yourself a victim out of every circumstances.

That's what I've learn so no more next time. I kinda pity the person who lives directly below his unit... that noise is probably unbearable too but nobody ever complaints as honestly, a guy living below him once complained to him that his children ran back and forth while shouting and laughing during early Sunday morning and was met with a response of :' Nope, there's no such thing.' as told by that guy to me. I told him this : 'dun bother complaining, if you wanna complain, check your subject first.'

Not sure if you guys are having a nice neighborhood or not? Mine definitely is a no no so far. Urgh... no point keep on complaining, you cannot really change other people in this world. Everyone is uniquely different. You either change the environment or change your perspective about them. The 2nd option, that is easier. : )

Gathering at Redbox Karaoke Gurney Plaza

Our beloved colleague organized a little gathering of karaoke session at Gurney Plaza's Redbox. 14 of us turned out making this the largest RedBox singing session and also my first time having it at weekday.

The purpose is to have a gathering for some of our colleague who will be leaving the company soon and also as they said for my belated birthday celebration (yikes, they remembered...)

Sang quite a number of songs together, sang 'Geng Gor Kam Khuk' & 'Geng Gor Kam Khuk2' by Leo Ku back to back 2 times each together.

The cake that wasn't meant to be there...

Right when the staff showed up with the birthday cake I was kinda scared... (my senses telling me danger ahead!) They all sang birthday song for me and asked me to make a wish which I did and blew off the candle. 1 guy held my arms from the back and the other guy (my lead) took the cake near my face and asked me to extract out the candle from the cake... which I refused to but as I was held down by a larger sized guy, I was quite powerless and before I knew it... bam!... the cake was pushed into my face, the moment of impact sends a cold shiver up my spine as the icy feeling of the cake touches my left face. Ugh, I saw that coming (too bad I dun wanna post any pic here.. heh heh). Went to wash my face and later on continue with the singing marathon.

After math, some how I pity the cake more than myself

Technically the session begins at 6:45pm and we sang till there's only like 4 of us left in the room and we left around 1am. Phew! talk about sing-a-ton!.... Today I woke up feeling extremely tired and exhausted... but it was worth the experience... singing with a different group of people is always fresh.

Books n more books...

Be slacking off these few days. Well, nothing much happened except enjoying my holidays at home. Sleep pretty late at night and woke up when I feel like it.

Went over to QB yesterday with my parents cos its quite hard for us to have the same rest day with each other. I took this opportunity to fetch them to QB to shop.
Visited Borders bookstore - my favorite of all time here. They have this discounts going on, selected books going for 30% discounts and full price books at 15%. (no, they didn't pay me for this, ; Þ) So I guess buying some nice books won't be harmful.

Got myself 3 books (from 3 for the price of 2 section) whereas you'll pay for 2 of the most expensive of 3 books and the least expensive one will be given out for free.

Since I added them up its almost RM86, I decided to grab a book for my cousin as I'll be visiting her later. Got her this Chinese educational books in cartoon with all those fun facts sorted out in some comic strips with info. In the end, when you buy > RM100, you'll get RM10 voucher which valid from 5th May to 18th May later, wow... more books for me! Now, I better get my gears up to speed to finish up those books, I have a lot of pending books to be read so far and they're still accumulating. hahaha, I dun mind spending for some good books... those motivational books' my favorite.

So those of you who's really a book worm should check Borders out. : ) Reading is good, can't stress that more. When was the last time you bought a book? or when was the last time you've finished reading a nice one?
