Belkin Charge + Sync Dock (lightning connector)

Finally succumbed to a dock for my iPhone 5.

I used to have Apple's version which I've used since the dawn of iPhone 3G all the way until 4S, when Apple decided to switch to the new lightning connectors for all their future products, they did so without releasing any compatible docks with it.

My iPhone 5 was laid flat on the table since last December, until now.

The packaging is fairly minimal, just the dock and tells you it has lightning connector on top and comes with the USB cable at the back, so you can use their existing pair of cable bundled with your device elsewhere, e.g. office

The content, the charge and sync dock wrapped in sticky plastic layer and the compartment behind it houses the USB cables that connects to the dock, they cannot be separated. Cable is 1.2M or 4 ft.

before

after, tada~

side view, at first I thought the phone sits further down, turns out there's a "hidden" black piece and the phone sits rather high up, well I guess it makes sense as it gives you access to the home button

If you have a "normal" case on the phone, fret not, the connector piece actually tilts so that it could be used with this dock as well, I'm not too sure about those Morphie Juice packs or any other case that comes with built in battery. Perhaps it could be too thick for this dock, please check properly before buying. From maximum tilt, it could do around 5mm at the back.

The bottom of the dock was made of soft rubbers and it grips on the surface fairly well, much like Apple's original dock. If you used anyone of those from the past then you'll be right at home.

The only thing that I wanted to point out so that potential buyers would be well informed before running out to get this thing is that this dock :-

  1. offers no interface to your audio jack at the bottom (why Apple?). If you need to use that then this dock is not for you.
  2. offers no audio out port whatsoever (unlike Apple's original 30 pin connectors iPod dock which supports iPhone) that you can plug in a pair of decent speaker or hook up with your sound system. This doesn't work.
  3. does not support overly thick casing (about 5mm max I would say), please take note

If none of these are your concern and you would like a dock for your phone, by all means consider this dock. It's small, it's sturdy and non intrusive enough to clog up your desk.

Happy lab

I have what I defined as "happy food", chocolates. These are my happy food. Whenever I take some, it brightens up my day.

Stumbled upon this store with bright tubes of sweets, it piqued my curiosity and I went in and had a look and came out with 2 items.

The jelly or happy beans as they were called are packed neatly in transparent "test tubes", these tiny tubes made up a good portion of the display shelves on the store. There were lots of flavors to choose from but I settled for this, "lemony" tastes.

Taste wise, it's just like any jelly beans, not too sweet, tastes mild and a bit muted. I guess it's fine if you like these type of stuff.

$2.50 per tube.

2nd item was a chocolate bar, I chose double swirl. It's milk chocolate bar plus white chocolate swirls. I like the alphabet imprinted on the surface of the chocolate bar - H.A.P.P.Y. literally.

Taste wise, again it's not overly sweet and nothing too ground breaking.

$2.50 per bar.

I guess probably the food here in Happy lab are not too sweet in nature, which could be healthier choice for people with sweet tooth?
