Langkawi Trip - Part 2

Alright, now back to part 2 of the trip. Sat on the boat, resting my eyes trying to sleep but couldn't 3 super star singers singing tunes for us all. hahahhahahaa, it somehow makes the 1hour + trip er... a bit longer. hmmmm...

anyway, I was lucky that during this trip I didn't feel vomiting at all. I guess the reason must be I was sitting at the higher deck of the ship. Just in case u're not sure, just book the back seats, they're usually higher.

When we reached the port, hurried down, bought the return tickets (same price @ RM23). The last trip of the service was at 6:30pm to Kuala Kedah. We were approached by a lot of car rental agents. Seeing that we're a 9 ppl group, we decided to rent a van instead. Got a cheap offer from a 2nd agent which is around RM130 and the driver offered to drive us around instead of just renting out the van. Because we're only a few short hours before the trip back, we chose the deal.

We headed for a nearby coffee shop and had our lunch, nothing fancy.. just wanted to be quick

Next, our first stop, the cable car.

The access card

Reached there, bought the ticket and took the ride up. There were only 2 pylons holding up the cables.

The entrance to the Park where the cable car station resides

Langkawi Cable Car Station

The surrounding areas of the Oriental Village

Cable car!
The cable! lol...
People queuing up to board the cable car on top of the station
There's actually this 'hidden' scenery, a smiley face as u can see from above!

The other tower view from another tower

We took group photos and admired the surroundings and went for the hanging bridge. you actually have to hike a little to get there.

The path that leads to the hanging bridge.

More staircase view

The hanging bridge view

The steel pipes along the bridge.

was taking another shot from a different angle and saw this kid there. haha, nice subject

The steel pipe stand that supported portion of the bridge

Another view at the station and the tower

This shows the pond in the center of the Oriental Village

Guess where this is located?..... inside the male toilet. =_=''

Well, that makes up the 2nd part. The third and final part will be shorter one to wrap things up. Stay tuned.

Langkawi Trip - Part 1

Went on a trip to Langkawi island last weekend. It was a one day trip, 9 of us in the outing. I've snapped quite a number of photos with my phone so, I guess to ease my posting, I'll do it in a few segment.

Woke up quite early that day, around 4:30am. Got myself prep and ride out on a bike to fetch Leng Ong ah Bok. Reached Calvin's place, our gathering spot and later on hopped on Sang Yih's car.

Went to meet up with another team at a Dim Sum restaurant somewhere in mainland. I didn't bother to ask bout the place cos I'm quite sleepy and hungry. I just ordered some of the dim sum that were carted to our table by those waitress aunties ^_^.

Tea and sweet n sour chick

'Shark fin' soup and lor mai kai

After that we set out to Kuala Kedah and waited for another car as they went to fetch another one of our mate - ah mon and meet up with mysterious Steven who at first agreed with go with us but later on decided to meet up with us there. hmmm... surprise surprise.. probably dropped by his girl.

Anyway, continued on our journey, reached the port at kuala kedah. Parked car, bought tickets - sadly only one way - RM23 per person and there was a lot of ppl as it was during school break as well.

Lots of people at the port, buying tickets...

urgh, talk about bad timing, but the trip must go on! Sat on the chair, some of the ppl brought digital camera with them and we all have our usual 'wait for something candid shots' taking funny shots of each other.

The Tickets!

Tai Lou had earlier on asked us if anyone of us want to get the anti-dizzy pills and based on my previous ferry ride to Langkawi, I decided to get 2 of the pills. But a reminder from my mum that the pill might causes drowsiness, a quick check on the pill's description and it did mention about the side effects, so I passed. only Tai Lou, ah teng, ah bok took the pills if not mistaken. Tai Lou the hard hitter took 2 pills straight away.

A quick peak outside the waiting area

A view of the walkaway

Making our way out to wait for the ferry

What's this? they're the crab's holes =D

Lots of fisherman's ship parked at the shore

Yay, ... oh wait. not our ride... =_=''

This is the one, not exactly a beauty but it fetches us to where we wanna go

Waited for our ferry to arrived, which as late at around 10:45pm. Guess what, those 3 that took the pills slept away during the entire journey, I for one being tired... managed to just take a few nap here and there, didn't manage to sleep as a result of free 'karaoke' entertainment coming from the back of the seats from 3 of our lovely singers... =_=''

Anyway, stay back for further trip details n photos!

Farewell Dinner - Maa Roi Thai Food

Went to Maa Roi Thai Food restaurant last friday to have farewell (Again) dinner with our colleague - Tai Lou (Big Bro).

This restaurant is situated at the Abu Siti Lane, turn right into the lane from Machalister Road. Nothing much to be said for this except the chef and waitress appeared to be Thai people who speak English in their dialect. After browsing through the menu, our star of the day Tai Lou ordered 4 dishes and we all digged in right away as we're quite hungry at the moment.

Appetizer consisted of cucumber slices and fresh ladies fingers... the sauce's quite nice with minor spicy and minor sour. But ladies fingers appeared to taste too 'fresh' for me.

Tai Lou - 'Tai' in both age and size ; )

Rice - in star shape! Yay, no this is not the kiddy set...

Tom Yam Soup! sadly only enough for each of us for 1 serving... which is not enough for me. Quite sour and minor spicy.

Kelabu - with prawns, nuts and onion slices

Last but not least, the 'Green curry'. Tastes quite funny to me, didn't quite like the combination of taste this soup offers, but other ppl seemed to be enjoying it.

Farewell Tai Lou and all the best! ; )

Wesak Day

Today is Wesak Day which is public holiday. Mum asked me to fetch her to pray so we went out around 9 something in the morning. I forgot when was the last time I came out to pray during Wesak Day but the last time definitely wasn't last year. I'll let the photo do most of the talking this round. ; )

Hawkers selling all sort of vegetarian food

A lot of people turned out for the event

A lot of people walking around in front of Malaysia Buddhist Association (MBA) building

Flowers can be purchased for worshiping purposes

People lighting up their joss sticks

A few beggars can be seen around the area, a generous boy giving a beggar here a few ringgit

The Buddha statue outside of MBA building

A stage directly in front of MBA building with 'Happy Wesak Day' banner behind

Entering MBA building

Buddhism books could be obtained with a few ringgit of donation

Counters setting up to accept donation for victims of recent Myanmar and China's disaster victims

A few workers dipping in flowers into a small pond to pack those 'blessed' water into packets for devotees

There's a line of people queuing up to get a chance to 'bathe' a small buddha statue in front of the small pond and retrieve the packed 'blessed water'

The center of BMA building with another buddha statue for devotees to pray

Devotees buy round lotus shaped candles in various sizes to light up and pray for well being

Those candles are then put onto these stand here

Overall a nice 'refreshing' experience for me. Some of the 'event' like queuing up for the blessed water and to bathe the small Buddha statue is new to me. haha... Happy Wesak Day to all who celebrate this day!
