my new TOY - Bamboo Fun

A while ago, Calvin showed me his tablet... i didnt know drawing tablet has evolved to a point where they can even mimic pressure applied on the pen to simulate brush strokes.. something i've always wanted.

I like art....drawing.. have been drawing since i was a child.. but recently lesser and lesser as i grew older. reason being that i tried drawing using a mouse...and i'm not very good at it.. ended up i went back to my pencil and paper approach.. LOL.. talk bout outdated....

So i went around and did some research.. found out that local store Switch is selling those bamboo fun tablets. I noticed this since last year when they first put them up in their shelves but i just didnt bother... cos i really didnt thought there's this thing as pressure sensitive pen. =D

So i grabbed the small sized tablet at RM425.. ouch.. the medium one comes in black color as well but its a whopping RM750 if not mistaken.. almost doubled.. guess i'll just have to do with small ones.

The entire package comes in a very nice box, slide it out.. revealed a black box.

Flip that up reveals a thank you note from the company Wacom. the entire packaging feels nice... very.. how to say.. 'Apple'ish feel.. :D

The package includes the tablet, a pen, pen holder, a mouse which only works on the tablet surface... and CD drivers and softwares. very nice indeed...

Played around and get a feel of drawing on the tablet... you can customize how the pen reacts on the tablet in 2 ways.
  1. something like the mouse....where u have to drag and guide your cursor on the screen from the previous position u left it when u lifted the pen.
  2. is what i'm trying to get used to, is think of the drawing area of the tablet as a whole monitor's screen. so no matter where u last left your cursor, the moment say, u press on the center of the tablet, it automatically moves the mouse cursor to the center of the screen. and if move to edge it will do so.
This takes a while to get use to... but that's what the default settings and recommended by the company. :)

There's also 4 more buttons for you to customize as shotcuts which can be used to launch apps as well. The center of the ring glows whenever the tablet is plugged in to the pc. u can actually press up to scroll up on a web page or twist your fingers around clock wise to zoom in and counter clockwise to zoom out. this applies for not only the drawing apps but also to web pags as well... hehehehe.. neat huh?

The pen itself has 2 buttons at the side which defaults to click and drag and 1 more for mouse-right-click so actually you can replace your mouse with this tablet. but i'll still use back my Razer Krait for everyday usage as the tablet i've got is the small size. :(

No, i didnt bother with the bundled mouse.. LOL.

Here's what i've managed to come up with after around 1 hour of drawing.. uuhh
Not the best but i'll practice more~ till then.... draw away~

Check back for more drawings in the future and please let me know what you think :)
P/S: Thanks to Calvin for showing me this stuff... ^^
